History of Intel STDF :

At Intel STDF 2001, a total of 171 projects participated from all over India. Of these 4 National level winners were chosen to represent India at the largest pre-college science fair in the world – the Intel ISEF 2001 in USA .The four participants made India proud by earning awards collectively of worth US $13,000 were extremely successful and earned awards collectively worth US$ 13,000 at the Intel ISEF. A special felicitation ceremony was held for them where the Chief Minister of Maharashtra , Mr Vilas Rao gave away awards to the Intel ISEF winners.

For Intel STDF 2002, we received 2,415 project synopses from across the country. Our distinguished Scientific Review Committee (SRC) at Mumbai evaluated these synopses. Projects meeting Intel STDF criteria were selected by the SRC. A total of 398 projects participated from all across the country at the National fairs held in Mumbai and Delhi. 6 winning projects (8 students) at the National level represented India at Intel ISEF 2002 in Louisville, Kentucky, US in May and came back winning 4 awards.

At Intel STDF 2003, 2454 projects were received of which 135 projects were selected by the SRC for participation at the National Fair. There were 3 National Fairs held in 2003 at Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore respectively. The National winners of each National Fair represented India at Intel ISEF 2003 held at Cleveland and the team made us proud by coming back with a record total of 12 prizes.

Last year at Intel STDF, 2 National Fairs were simultaneously organised at a common venue in Hyderabad. A total of 150 projects participated (after SRC review) through Direct Entry and Affiliated Fairs. The 8 National Winners (4 individual projects and 2 team projects) went through a 1 week intensive Coaching Camp at Mumbai in January 2004. these students were selected for participation at Intel ISEF 2004 to be held at Portland, USA.
