Winners of the Intel STDF - 2004 National Fair

                                                 Intel Science Talent Discovery Fair 2004 was held at International   Institute
                                                                        of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad from December 17 to
                                                                             19, 2003. Two combined National Fairs were held simultaneously
                                                                                           at   the same   venue ensuring greater   exposure to the
                                                                                              participants and also selection of the most deserving
                                                                                                        projects as National Winners to represent India at
                                                                                                           the Intel International Science and Engineering
                                                                                                              Fair –2004 (Intel ISEF).

                                                                                                                             Students came   from   all   across   the
                                                                                                                              country to showcase their talent at the
                                                                                                                               Intel STDF National Fair. 118 projects
                                                                                                                               were short listed from amongst 1700
                                                                                                                               synopses submitted for participation
                                                                                                                                at Intel STDF and 55 from amongst
                                                                                                                                the   winners selected from 14 State/
                                                                                                                                National Science Fairs affiliated with
                                                                                                                                Intel STDF.

Brilliant ideas were presented by these young scientists and our
judges had a tough time selecting the best ones. The Judges
panel went through long discussions and visits to the project
stalls to finally declare the winners.

Having worked for months on their research projects the
students were full of enthusiasm and anxiety. Their effort
and determination were rewarded in the form of:

National Winners i.e 4 Individual Projects and Two Team Projects
3 top projects in each of the subject categories.

All National Winners get a state of the art multimedia PC and a chance to represent India at Intel ISEF 2004 to be held at Portland in May 2004. However, their participation at Intel ISEF will depend on their performance at the Coaching Camp to be held from Jan 8^th to 13^th at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Mumbai.

All the Subject Category winners were awarded with fully paid summer internship at renowned institutes in the country like – IIT Bombay, BITS Pilani, Physical Research Lab, Ahmedabad, Indian Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow and IUCAA Pune. The summer internship will last for 3 – 5 weeks depending on the institute.

Intel STDF congratulates participants at Intel STDF 2004 and hopes the spirit of scientific discovery takes them to greater heights.
