Objectives and Background

 
Objectives

The primary objective of IRIS is to recognize and reward outstanding, innovative projects in the field of science and maths. Hence, helping promote and nurture science and scientific research amongst young Indian innovators Providing a platform for these young innovators to interact with Indian industry as well as get recognized at International events.

Background

The DST-CII-Intel partnership is the merger of two programs with a common mission of promoting the spirit of Science, the Intel Science Talent Discovery Fair and CII-DST’s “Steer the Big Idea” into one program, ‘IRIS – Initiative for Research & Innovation in Science’. Intel has joined hands with the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to jointly promote inventions and innovations among students and youth in India. IRIS 2006 has participants from across the country converging at two Regional Fairs over the year and one National Fair in December. Projects selected from the National Fair represent India at the Intel International Fairs. One of the International Fairs of 2006-IEYI is being held in Delhi. Selected students will represent India at IEYI 2006 and ISEF 2007.
